Meet the Editors > Bob Bauman

On writing: “I write about preserving liberty, saving on taxes, protecting your wealth, investing and growing your money, enjoying financial privacy, and most of all, finding peace of mind.”

Government: Bob served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1973 to 1981 representing Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay district. Prior to that, he was a Maryland State Senator and long time congressional aide. He is a 1955 graduate of the Capitol Page School, the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. served as page in U.S. Senate and House, 1953-55, and later as a legislative aide to House Republicans, 1956-68.

On asset protection: “In litigation-crazed countries such as the U.S. and in the U.K. it makes no sense to wait for a disaster before creating an asset protection plan that may include an offshore asset protection trust.”

Law: A member of the District of Columbia Bar, he received his juris doctor degree from the Law Center of Georgetown University in 1964 and a degree in international relations from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1959. He was honored with GU’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 1975.

On second citizenship: Citizens of many countries have a right to consider acquiring a second citizenship, particularly in a country where taxes are more reasonable. A second passport can open doors that otherwise would remain closed. Best of all, a second citizenship/passport can serve as the key to protecting your assets, expanding your freedom—or even saving your life.”

On going offshore: “At a time when the United States government is deeply in debt prudence dictates offshore planning and financial activity.  So-called ‘patriotism’ does not require us to commit financial suicide when there are reasonable escape exits to better places.”
